BOSTON – PickleBOS, a new Boston-based indoor pickleball club, will open next summer in South Boston’s new On the Dot development, representing the ultimate local destination for Boston’s growing community of players in the popular sport and providing a best-in-class space to play, learn and have fun.

Founders and local Boston residents Alex Karsos and Tom Cibotti announced today that PickleBOS will be a place for the continued growth for the sport of pickleball -- serving the South Boston neighborhood and the Greater Boston area.

Recognizing the lack of available courts in the Boston area, PickleBOS founders seized the opportunity to create a dedicated indoor facility to meet the growing demand for this fast-paced, social sport. PickleBOS will be located in a modernized warehouse building at 4 Alger St., between Andrew Square and Broadway Stations on the MBTA's Red Line.

“Like many cities and neighborhoods around the country, Boston is in serious need of more courts as the demand for players continues to outgrow the available places to play," said Karsos. "We couldn’t be more excited to blend our passion for the sport and love for our community as we debut our first location in South Boston.”

PickleBOS will be outfitted with 11 indoor courts featuring state-of-the-art lighting and court surfaces. Club amenities will include a pro shop with a variety of healthy grab-and-go drinks and snacks and the latest pickleball gear, a welcoming lounge area for socializing and unwinding post-game, and an event space that can cater to groups.

The club’s programming will feature open play, leagues, tournaments, youth clinics and training programs led by certified coaches. Most important, it will be inviting to all ages and abilities, from first-timers to seasoned pros, making PickleBOS the destination for pickleball recreation and competition in Boston.

Founders Karsos and Cibotti met in 2023 while playing pickleball in the Boston area. Karsos, who lives in South Boston with his wife and two kids, was introduced to pickleball for the first time at a friend’s birthday party in 2022.

“Whether it’s teaching my daughter how to play, playing competitively with friends, or playing socially with a group of lifelong Southie residents, pickleball has been such a positive experience for my family,” Karsos said. “We love the local community and that makes opening in Southie really special for us.”

Cibotti, who resides in the Seaport with his wife, played pickleball for the first time during the pandemic and quickly fell in love with the sport.

“When a friend of mine asked me to play for the first time I was hesitant as I hadn’t heard of the sport up until then," he said. "Like so many who enjoy the sport, I was instantly all-in.”

PickleBOS will offer memberships with exclusive perks and discounts and will also be open to non-members. Construction is set to begin in early 2025 with an opening next summer.
